What is the Charvet of Françoise Montague?
Le Charvet is a long strand of 125 cm glass pearl beads, hand-tied in the Françoise Montague workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Its unique feature: it can be worn both as a necklace and as a belt. Wrapped twice around the neck, it adorns a neckline. Tied at the waist over a straight dress or wide trousers, it becomes a statement belt without losing its elegance. Two crystal rhinestone washers mark the ends. One piece, two distinct styles.
How to wear the Charvet as a belt?
The Charvet ties freely at the waist thanks to its length of 125 cm, designed to allow all wearing styles. On high-waisted jeans, it shapes the silhouette. On wide pants or a straight dress, it creates an elegant waistline. The knot is tied freely, without a clasp: it is the very act of tying, inherited from couture tradition, that gives the Charvet its character. Our experts welcome you in-store at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré to explore all the ways to wear it.
Is Charvet handmade in Paris?
Yes. The Charvet is hand-tied in our Parisian workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré, just steps from Place Vendôme. The length of 125 cm, the drape of the fold, and the teardrop finish at the end are the result of a precise balance sought by our artisans: the fold must fall just right, whether tied at the waist or wrapped around the neck. This expertise has been passed down in the House since 1945.
Can Charvet be given as a gift?
The Charvet is placed back in its case Françoise Montague, hand-sealed with our wax seal. This ceremonial gesture transforms each purchase into a precious object even before it is opened, particularly suitable for a meaningful gift: birthday, wedding gift, or simply the desire to mark a moment with a piece that will last. The House also ensures the maintenance and repair of your jewelry in its Parisian workshop.
Does the store offer tax-free shopping and international shipping for Charvet?
Yes. Tax refund is applied in-store at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré for any customer residing outside the European Union. Shipping to the United States and Gulf countries is provided DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): taxes and customs duties are included in the displayed price, with no surprises at delivery. For the European Union, prices include all taxes. A private appointment can be arranged in-store to discover the piece and explore its multiple ways of being worn.

A unique knowledge since 1945

Our story begins in 1935, with a small jewelry workshop founded by Françoise Montague's mother. Ten years later, in 1945, the brand took the name it is known by today. Very quickly, its style stood out: enameled and iridescent glass beads, unique craftsmanship, and limitless creativity.

Then in 1978, a new chapter, a new breath. At just 21 years old, Marion Stern took the reins with the desire to make the house shine even further. A visionary, she explored new horizons and from 1981, Françoise Montague creations flew to Asia, the East, and the West. In 1998, she opened the boutique at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré!

And today? The story continues! In June 2023, I joined the adventure in turn. My name is Rebecca Mamou-Stern and with my engineer’s perspective and all the know-how passed down before me, I bring this beautiful house to life, between heritage and modernity.
