What is the Amalfi Sautoir by Françoise Montague?
The Amalfi Sautoir is a long handcrafted necklace from the Maison Françoise Montague, founded in 1945 at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. It is made up of four flame-cast glass paste clovers, spaced along a strand of pearly white beads, set on a 24-carat fine gold-plated copper base. Its unique feature: it can be worn as a single strand like a long poetic necklace, or doubled for a structured set inspired by high couture jewelry. It forms a complete set with the Amalfi Earrings and the Amalfi Short Necklace.
What is flame-cast glass paste?
Flame-cast glass paste is a handcrafted technique in which the glass material is worked directly with heat by an artisan. Each clover of the Amalfi Necklace is individually shaped in our workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré. The slight variations in color and the fine air bubbles visible in each pattern are authentic marks of this craftsmanship: no clover is identical to another. This precise gesture, which requires years of mastery, has been passed down in the House since 1945.
Can the Amalfi Sautoir be worn as a double strand?
Yes. The Amalfi Sautoir was designed to be worn in two ways: as a single strand, it falls in length with the flexibility of a long, poetic necklace, elegant over an open shirt or evening dress. Doubled, it becomes a structured piece, in the spirit of high couture jewelry; worn this way, it stands out as the centerpiece of an outfit. This dual interpretation makes it a jewel with multiple styling possibilities, suitable for everyday wear as well as special occasions.
Can the Amalfi Necklace be given as a gift?
Each Amalfi Sautoir is presented in its Françoise Montague case, hand-sealed with our wax seal bearing the House's coat of arms. This ceremonial gesture, inherited from the codes of private correspondence, turns each purchase into a precious object even before it is opened. A private appointment at the workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré can be arranged upon request to discover the five colors side by side and create a harmony or to accompany the purchase with a personalized handwritten note.
Does the Maison offer tax-free shopping and international shipping for the Amalfi Necklace?
Yes. Tax refund is applied in-store at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré for any customer residing outside the European Union. Shipping to the United States and Gulf countries is provided DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): taxes and customs duties are included in the displayed price, with no surprises upon delivery. For the European Union, prices include all taxes. Shipping is handled via DHL Express (2 to 5 days depending on the destination).

Unique expertise since 1945

Our story begins in 1935, with a small jewelry workshop founded by Françoise Montague's mother. Ten years later, in 1945, the brand took the name it is known by today. Very quickly, its style stood out: enameled and iridescent glass beads, unique craftsmanship, and limitless creativity.

Then in 1978, a new chapter, a fresh breath. At just 21 years old, Marion Stern took the reins with the desire to make the house shine even further. A visionary, she explored new horizons and from 1981, Françoise Montague creations flew to Asia, the East, and the West. In 1998, she opened the boutique at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré!

And today? The story continues! In June 2023, I joined the adventure in turn. My name is Rebecca Mamou-Stern and with my engineer’s perspective and all the know-how passed down before me, I bring this beautiful house to life, between heritage and modernity.
