What is the Charvet by Françoise Montague?
The Charvet is a long strand of 125 cm glass pearl beads, hand-tied in the Françoise Montague workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Its special feature: it can be worn both as a necklace and as a belt. Wrapped twice around the neck, it adorns a neckline. Tied at the waist over a straight dress or wide pants, it becomes a statement belt without losing its elegance. Two crystal rhinestone discs mark the ends. One piece, two distinct styles.
How to wear the Charvet as a belt?
The Charvet ties freely at the waist thanks to its 125 cm length, designed to allow all wearing styles. On high-waisted jeans, it shapes the silhouette. On wide pants or a straight dress, it creates an elegant waistline. The knot is tied freely, without a clasp: it is the very act of tying, inherited from couture tradition, that gives the Charvet its character. Our experts welcome you in-store at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré to explore all the ways to wear it.
Is Charvet handmade in Paris?
Yes. The Charvet is hand-tied in our Parisian workshop at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré, just steps from Place Vendôme. The length of 125 cm, the drape of the fold, and the teardrop finish at the end are the result of a precise balance sought by our artisans: the fold must fall perfectly, whether tied at the waist or wrapped around the neck. This expertise has been passed down in the House since 1945.
Can Charvet be given as a gift?
The Charvet is placed back in its Françoise Montague case, hand-sealed with our wax seal. This ceremonial gesture transforms each purchase into a precious object even before it is opened, making it especially suitable as a distinctive gift: birthday, wedding gift, or simply the desire to mark a moment with a piece that will last. The Maison also provides maintenance and repair of your jewelry in its Parisian workshop.
Does La Maison offer tax-free shopping and international shipping for Charvet?
Yes. Tax refund is applied in-store at 231 Rue Saint-Honoré for any customer residing outside the European Union. Shipping to the United States and Gulf countries is provided DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): taxes and customs duties are included in the displayed price, with no surprises upon delivery. For the European Union, prices include all taxes. A private appointment can be arranged in-store to discover the piece and explore its multiple ways of being worn.

Unique expertise since 1945

The house of Françoise Montague was founded in 1945, heir to a Parisian jewelry workshop passed down by her mother. Françoise's style quickly became distinctive and recognizable: enameled and iridescent glass beads, unique craftsmanship, and boundless creativity. Within a few years, the house made a name for itself among lovers of characterful jewelry, staying true to a standard that has never wavered.

In 1978, a new chapter began. At just twenty-one years old, Marion Stern took the reins with the ambition to take the house even further. A visionary, she explored new territories and forged connections beyond borders: as early as 1981, Françoise Montague’s creations reached Asia, the Middle East, and the West. In 1998, she took a decisive step by opening the boutique at 231 rue Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris’s fashion and luxury district.

Today, the story continues. In June 2023, I joined the adventure in turn. My name is Rebecca Mamou-Stern, and with my engineer’s perspective and all the expertise passed down before me, I bring this house to life, between heritage and modernity. Every creation that leaves the workshop extends this story and writes it a little further.
